“Whenever you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret.” Matthew 6:6
The invitation is to meet God in silence, deep in my own heart; He patiently waits for me to open the door to his word and to sit quietly letting it soak into my being, there are many doors to close on my way to this sacred place where God waits for me. Today, I close the door on guilt and worry. Jesus , I desire the grace to open the door to the compassion that resides in my heart , to the place where you abide.
“It is good to wait patiently for the Lord ..”Lamentations 3:26
In the winter woods there comes a lightening in my step, and the scent of blue sky, as the air gentles my cheek. Yonder tree beckons with a whisper in the thicket,
and when I see
the wee necklace of buds, it sets my soul a-vibrating.
” Holy, holy, holy the Lord God almighty, who was and is and is to come.” (Revelations 4:8)
At the moment we are about to give up, so weary of winter, the earth begins to soften. The last of the snow is melting and tiny snow drops, crocuses and pansies begin to appear. The earth embraces the melting snow, accepting the life- giving water with open arms. God, the immense holy one, calls us back to his tender ever-present embrace. My heart cracks open, trembling like the pansies in the snow. I long to fall into this bottomless pool of love. My God, touch me today with your presence.
” My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Exodus 33:14
Lead me, Lord with your still, small voice
to the Wisdom you have placed deep in my heart,
the door to this place is silence,
and though the world is noisy and messy,
you guide me to this inner room
a dwelling place,
for you and for me,
There, I rest in Silence.
“Let us know, let us press on to know the Lord; his appearing is as sure as the dawn; he will come to us like the showers, like the spring rains that water the earth.” (Hosea 6:11)
**** During the last days of winter, dreary and cold, comes the Lenten Rose a-blooming, pushing up right through the snow, coloring the barren ground with the promise of green! Hope sings in me, Lord.
